You will have time to relax before we explore the mighty Acropolis at sunset and finish your first day in Europe’s oldest capital with a walk around the Plaka neighborhood! Your guide will make his first stop at the archaeological exhibits which were found in the excavations of the New Acropolis Museum area. Then you will continue walking on the pedestrian streets of Makrigianni and Dionysus Areopagitou str. nearby Plaka and the new Acropolis Museum.

You will enter the Acropolis from the south slope to skip the lines and avoid the crowds. Your ascent here begins while you are taking in the spectacular views of the city below. You will visit the Theatre of Dionysus, Asclepius Sanctuary and adore the Concert Hall of Herodes Atticus. Reaching Acropolis top point, your guide will give you a detailed explanation of the glorious monuments such as the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the Propylaea, the Nike Temple, the Beule Gate, the Observatory, the Philopappos and the Mars and Pnyx Hills.

The first part of the tour finishes in the viewpoint of Acropolis and you will have free time to explore the hill on your own. The tour around Acropolis will last approximately two hours. Our guide is an awarded archaeologist with 25 years of leading guided tours.

After breakfast at 9:30AM our driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby and head north to reach the town of Delphi and its Archaeological Site, another UNESCO World Heritage Site in Greece.

Learn about ancient Greece, the mysterious Oracle of Delphi, and just why Delphi was called the center of the world! As you may know, it was one of the most important sanctuaries in the ancient World. People from all over the Mediterranean and further would travel there to hear prophecies that would help them make decisions on marriages, politics, founding new colonies, and declaring war.

The importance of Delphi was so great that the Ancient Greeks called it the Navel of the World – They literally thought it was the centre of the world! There were monuments and temples named after the Greek Gods, pilgrimages, processions, and even athletic games.

Today, Delphi is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. Located in a beautiful and spiritual natural setting, visitors to this day still marvel at this magical wonder. The site of Delphi lies just 8 km from Arachova town. After a short drive we reach this picturesque village.

Free time to enjoy the town and have lunch at the village of Arachova. (Please note lunch is not included on this tour). Nestled on Mount Parnassos, Arachova is a town that has been transformed into a popular destination for those seeking winter sports and relaxation. It sits at an altitude of 973 meters and thanks to its proximity to Athens, the winter months see it buzzing on weekends with city slickers escaping the rat race for a break in the refreshing mountain air.

Follow in their footsteps and find out why this place is so adored. The village’s lively tavernas, bars and restaurants are home to endless entertainment. But there’s more to Arachova than endless fun on weekends and during the holidays. The rest of the year, when out of the spotlight of visitors, Arachova exudes a cosmopolitan charm. Last year, several new eateries opened, offering even more options to enjoy the local cuisine.

After breakfast your driver will pick you up from the Hotel at 9:00 AM. Visit 3 main monasteries of Meteora and discover the natural beauty and the cultural heritage of this area. This Meteora half-day sightseeing tour will take you back to the dark ages and the story of the first hermits and monks who laid the foundations of what later on became the monastic community of Meteora.

Learn which monastery was the first to be established and the true motivations behind the monks’ decision to try to climb the steep rocks of Meteora and build the monasteries there. In the afternoon, we embark on an amazing tour hiking Meteora’s Caves up to the rock of Agio Pnevma (Holy Spirit), which is located in the middle of the valley that extends from the village of Kastraki towards the vast rock complex of Meteora to lead you some 800 feet higher above the village.

This 3-4 hrs hike will guide you on the trails near the village of Kastraki. Walk in the footsteps of those first hermit-monks of Meteora; see the caves where those faithful people chose to live centuries ago. Learn all the stories and the legends through the narrative of our guides. Filled with the most awesome views of the surrounding area you will then reach the prison cave of the monks, located on the northern side of Agio Pnevma. The hike will then pass below the cave of St. George and it will finish at the central square of Kastraki village.

Make the first stop in Firostefani, well known for the famous blue dome church where you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the volcanic caldera. On your way to Oia, marvel at the characteristic architecture of the famous picturesque village. Visit the old Venetian castle, and explore its interior. Next, head to Pyrgos village, the former capital of Santorini. We will walk through the narrow, labyrinthine paths up to the ruins of the old Venetian castle. Arriving at the Cape Sounion, you will visit the 5th century B.C. Temple of Poseidon with its magnificent panoramic view of the Aegean Sea (on a clear day you can see at least seven islands). One of its columns has a graffiti left by none other than Lord Byron in the early 1800s. Cape Sounion has long played an important part in Greek mythology and history, and the first recorded mention of it occurs in the Odyssey, as the last safe landing before Poseidon scattered the returning Greek navy.

As the god of the sea, Poseidon was very important for ancient Greeks, and the scale of the Temple at Cape Sounion reflects that. After visiting the Temple, filled from the beauty, the history and the culture of this site we will wait to admire one of the most amazing sunsets you could ever imagine.

And when the sun begins to slowly touch the sea it is the perfect moment for a glass of wine, before returning back to your hotel.
